The Great Plains Percussion Group will be performing a concert of original works and established masterworks. From marimbas to brake drums, gongs to steel drums, this concert is full of the variety of textures percussion can provide. Relentless energy mixed with subtle beauty performed by passionate musicians: this is a must see event for the Wichita community.
The Great Plains Percussion Group is a collective of Percussionists from Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas: Von Hansen, Jamie Whitmarsh, Ryan Robinson, McKeever Arnold, Jeremy Parr and Tommy Dobbs. The diverse program will include proven masterpieces by Steve Reich and John Cage, contemporary works, and an original composition by Friends University Percussion Professor Von Hansen, entitled Ad Astra, after the Kansas state motto.
