Welcome to the 9th annual Fisch Haus Tuesday Night Jazz Series! Each evening starts at 8pm, with doors at 7:30, and admission is free. However, all donations go directly to the bands, so we encourage you to be generous if you had a great time! The shows are open to all ages, and we invite our audience to bring their own refreshments, but ask that alcohol not be served to minors.

NEWSFLASH!
The Orpheum has very generously donated two tickets to Spyro Gyra, on March 30th, for us to raffle off. For each suggested donation of $10 or more, we’ll enter your name in a draw to win these tickets. The draw will be held after the last jazz series performance on the 26th, and the winner will be notified by either phone or email. We can accept payments by credit card and paypal, so don’t hesitate to enter as many times as you think you need to, to win!!!

Student Night
8:00pm: Friends University Soulstice
Soulstice is the top jazz combo representing the Friends University Jazz Department. Over the past few years, this group of outstanding young jazz students has performed in many Wichita venues and high schools and jazz festivals throughout the mid-west. In the summer of 2008 they traveled to Italy and France with other members of the Friends jazz program and performed at three major international jazz festivals. In April 2009, they were named the Most Outstanding College Jazz Combo at the University of North Texas Jazz Festival, where they competed with groups from 14 states and Canada. The group is directed by Lisa Hittle, who is now in her 23nd year as director of the jazz department at Friends University.

8:40pm: Friends University Jazz Vocal Ensemble
The Friends University Jazz Vocal Ensemble, or JVE, under the direction of Craig Curry, was formed in 2009 and has quickly built a reputation for excellence as evidenced by their appearances at KMEA in 2012, and at the 2013 JEN (Jazz Education Network) conference in Atlanta. The first jazz group from Friends to receive an invitation to perform at a national jazz conference, JVE performs a diverse repertoire from classic jazz standards to the modern original compositions and arrangements.
9:20pm: East High’s Funky Peaches
In the fall of 2012, a group of talented musicians originating from Wichita East High formed a collaboration in order to recreate jazz standards with modern influences. As the group developed, these musicians began to explore jazz fusion, which is now their primary style.

Geoff Deibel on sax and turntables, Mark Foley on bass, computer, and possibly keys. Beat-based. Improvisation.

Luna Copii Quintet
The Luna Copii Quintet is Bobby Shurden (Alto Saxophone), Cortland Mahoney (Violin), Jered Becker (Bass), Kendall Wohaska (Guitar), and Scott Taylor (Drums). Luna Copii is a jazz collective formed with the purpose of playing original compositions that range from Blues to the Avant Garde.

Reggie Littleton
Reggie has been on the music scene for quite some time now. He’s played with countless musicians in and out of the local area, and traveled extensively. Joining Reggie will be Emily Deaver (keyboard), Jordan Bollig (bass), Jim Brim (EWI, soprano saxophone), and Jeff Stidham (drums).
