Two exhibitions bring six distinct imaginations to Fisch Haus. Downstairs, Concord Stereo gathers Stephen Atwood, Cecil Papillon, Ashley Miner (A Miner), James Gates, and Kent Thomas Williams. Across the galleries, paintings and mixed-media works sit alongside James Gates’s historical concoctions; each invites a closer look. Wall-mounted sculptural birds reveal one thread of collaboration between Atwood, Papillon, and Williams. Their public artwork, Skycrown, will be illuminated one block away at the entrance to Commerce Street.
Upstairs in Bildlab, Welcome to the Garden of Fuzzy Delights is an environment by Lawrence artist Peter Tormala. More than 100 pipe-cleaner sculptures, made over three decades, gather into a room of their own, inviting visitors to wander, look closely, and discover the conversations between them.
These simultaneous exhibitions offer an evening of invention, wit, and unexpected encounters.
